Compression damping of shock absorber (MXC, EXC) The compression damping (during compression) can be adjusted for the MXC and EXC shock absorbers (Mono Compression Control). The degree of damping can be adjusted by turning adjusting screw 1 with a screwdriver. Turning in a clockwise direction will increase the damping, turning in a counterclockwise direction will decrease the damping. STANDARD ADJUSTMENT: -Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to the stop. -Then turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise, counting the number of clicks that corresponds to the respective type of shock absorber. Type White Power 1218X757…………..17 clicks Type White Power 1218X759…………..17 clicks * WARNING * THE DAMPING UNIT OF THE SHOCK ABSORBER IS FILLED WITH HIGH – COMPRESSION NITROGEN . NEVER TRY TO TAKE THE SHOCK ABSORBER APART OR TO DO ANY MAINTEN – ANCE WORK YOURSELF . SEVERE INJURIES COULD BE THE RESULT . NEVER UNSCREW THE BLACK SCREW 2 CONNECTION (24 MM ). Rebound damping of shock absorber (SX, MXC, EXC) By using the adjusting screw 3 , the degree of damping of the rebound can be adjusted. Turn the knob to the right side to increase damping, turn it to the left side to reduce damping during rebounding. STANDARD ADJUSTMENT: -Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to the stop. -Then turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise, counting the number of clicks that corresponds to the respective type of shock absorber. Works Performance Products, Inc. constructs two types of shocks for the ST1100. Both have an integral reservoir (often
referred to as a “piggyback” reservoir). This reservoir increases the shock fluid capacity. This additional fluid helps
dissipate heat generated by the damping in the shock. The reservoir contains a polyurethane bladder which separates
the nitrogen from the shock oil. The shocks differ in the external adjustments. RACER The Racer shock features a large 1.375” damping piston and Works’ exclusive check-ball and orifice damping system. This damping system allows an extremely wide range of damping through the high-, medium- and low-speed circuits that are incorporated in the design. It has spring pre-load adjustment to change the ride height to accommodate changing loads. PRO RACER
The Pro Racer shock features a twin tube design with external compression and rebound adjustments. This design also
incorporates an orifice damping system, one that is unique to Works Performance. This damping system allows an
extremely wide range of adjustments to the high-, medium- and low-speed circuits on compression and rebound. it has
spring pre-load adjustment to change the ride height to accommodate changing loads. (Damping adjustment information
is contained in an additional instruction sheet that comes with the Pro Racer series of shocks.

The rear shock absorber contains nitrogen under high pressure. Do not allow Brake dust may contain asbestos which can be harmful! to your health. Do not use compressed air to clean brake drums or brake panels. Use a vacuum with a sealeddust collector. Wear a protective face mask and thoroughly wash your hands when finished.

1. The shock mounts with the body up —shaft pointing down. The nitrogen fill valve can be positioned toward the rear of the motorcycle. 2. Make sure that both halves of the upper and lower bushings are in place. NOTE: Do not try to install the shock with only half of the bushings, as this will lead to poor performance and premature seal leakage. The amount of “float” in the bushing set is necessary to ensure smooth operation of the damper assembly. 3. It is easiest to install the shock when the forks are fully extended, however the shock can be installed with the bike on the kick stand. 4. Insert the body eye into the mounting channel on the fork crown. Rotate the shock down into the lower channel. NOTE: A thread locking compound such as Red Loctite 262 or other similar product should be used on the shock fasteners. 5. Install the upper mounting stud and nuts, finger tight. 6. Push the shaft up far enough to insert the lower mounting stud and nuts. This will take a little effort because of the gas pressure in the shock. 7. Torque the upper and lower shock mount nuts to 22 ft. lb.
